When in Rome

Travelling is something that I, like many other people, see as a goal in life. I believe the purpose of life is to explore the world you've been birthed into (as cheesy as it sounds) and to also give back to the world and just contribute something whether it's small or big but I don't want to get all philosophical in this particular post.

I could go on and on about the fact that I have so many interests that I want to explore and I probably will go on and on about it another time.

But travelling is pretty much at the top of that list and anyone who follows me on Instagram (link is below and up there on the tab thingys) will know that I post a lot of pictures of Rome because it's the most recent place I've been to.

So I decided to write about it!

I highly recommend anyone who loves history to go to Rome, because I think it's safe to say that there are plenty of historical sights to see and old buildings are a given.

I mean, I saw the bloody Colosseum!

Historical artefacts aside, if you're a lover of Italian food (which I know I am) then there's no place like Rome because where else would you try Italian food other than the capital of Italy! (I quickly had to Google that one just to make sure I didn't sound like an idiot even though I was pretty sure)

I personally recommend you try out any of the many many gelato places where you can go wild with ice cream to your hearts content.

And while you're there, why not check out the world's smallest country which is literally takes minutes to get to on the metro.

Vatican City is a beautiful place with even more breathtaking buildings And you never know, you may run into the Pope. Which I almost did.

If you're lazy like me then you can hop on a tour bus to see all the main landmarks and attractions. It was so easy and simple to just buy a day ticket, Hop on the bus and hop off whenever there was a site that interested you.

But what striked me the most was how beautiful and picture perfect the city looked, it's every amateur photographer's dream, whether it's the view from the park or at the highest point in Rome where you can see the entire city,  words can't describe how exquisite the views were.

The atmosphere in the streets and the squares was so vibrant during the day yet so chilled out in the evening and it felt so relaxing to be in both.

I'd love to go back one day,  but let's just carry on ticking off everywhere else first  ;)

I am no makeup artist, but I thought I'd film a video on how I do my makeup everyday.

I really think I'm getting the hang of this. I mean look? I even made a decent thumbnail!

Being a better you part 4: positivity, patience and persistence

Well hey there internet,

Now this is a tricky topic and is sort of the one I got a little bit stuck on.

This series has been about being a better you (if you couldn’t tell from the title) and I think one of the most important things you could do to be a better you is to be happy with yourself and accept yourself for who you are.

Life does not always go to plan and sometimes it ends up going down a path that you know it should not be going down yet you can’t help and you go with it.

Or, sometimes there could be nothing wrong in your life but you just feel so depressed all the time.
That’s not your fault.

Your body releases chemicals that causes your brain to think a certain way and that could be triggered off by something small or huge.

You want to know the sad truth about the world? Some people were made to be pessimists and there’s very little anyone can do about that.

But if you have aspirations and ambitions in life then there are three Ps you need to follow to get anywhere:

Positivity- You will be surprised how productive you are when you’ve got a little cheer in your step. Optimism doesn’t hurt, people who are optimistic have hope and those who don’t are just empty people living empty lives.

I look at the people who live in my area, how they live their lives day in and day out. They’ll moan about their job, criticise other people for doing something that makes them happy and just live their life just hating on other people because they’re not happy with own lives.

And I feel sorry for them. The key to achievement is optimism

Patience- Changes don’t always happen overnight.  Just because something isn’t happening for you right now doesn’t mean that it will never happen. It’s going to be more difficult to regret something than it would just waiting for that thing to happen.

Persistence- You can’t expect to fall at the first hurdle, if you persist long enough you will succeed. You’ll never know how close you were to success if you give up.

I came across this quote a few years ago and for some reason it’s stuck with me for so long.
“Be happy with what you have whilst working for what you want.”

I hope, whatever ambitions and goals you have in life, that you achieve them.

Question of the day: what is one thing you are happy about with life?
